Mark A. Dennis is a realistic portrait sculptor who now resides in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania with his wife Kelly in an old farmhouse lorded over by Trixie(the cat) and Rex-the Labrador. He holds a BA in Technical Theatre from Mansfield State College which he has used a number of times while working as a Technical Director for various theaters. Sculpture, Theatre, and the Arts have been an integral part of his life for over thirty years. He started sculpting in college as a student in an intro to sculptural techniques class where he became inamored with the bronze casting process. The only requirement for using the foundry equipment was that you had to have a sculpture to cast so, necessity being a mother, he started sculpting only to find that he actually enjoyed it even more than casting. Upon graduation, he put his theatre career on hold and went to work managing a bronze art foundry and casting his work in various metals. Over the years, Mark developed a talent for portrait sculpting in numerous medium such as wood, bronze, and for the past 15 years in polymer clay. Working in ProSculpt polymer clay, he has become one of the most recognized Art Doll artists in the world winning numerous awards and publishing his first book the Human Figure in Clay which is an excellent tutorial for new polymer clay artists and should be in every sculpting book collection worldwide. Currently Mark is working with both polymer clay Art Dolls and direct sculpted epoxy clay garden art. These direct sculpted pieces range from eight inches high to life-sized portraits which can be displayed outdoors as they are UV resistant
